Well folks, after nearly 350 hours
of hard labor, the CD is done! "The Daily Routine for
the Orchestral Trombonist" is an interactive CD-ROM containing
more than 600 MB of info and printable music. On it, you'll find
videos and audio examples of what I consider to be the most comprehensive
Daily Routine
to date. It's not for beginners. It is the Routine that I do every
day to stay in shape and be prepared for anything I'm called upon
to play in the
orchestra. The routine covers everything from articulation to
scales to high
range to flexibility, and on and on. Many facets of the routine
are related directly to examples from the standard repertoire.
So, for example, you can
listen to me demonstrate tonguing on "William Tell"
or "La Gazza Ladra"....high range on "The Rhenish",
"Bolero" and others, all while viewing the music. The
Brahms First and Fourth Symphony chorales have been multi-tracked
so you can play along on 1st,2nd,or 3rd trombone. The CD is
designed to look and feel just like a multi-media web page and
has many, many links to pertinent sites on the Web. The first 10
people that spot me in
Nashville at the ITF and say "I saw you on the trombone-L"
will get a free copy. The rest can order it by contacting us through
trombonelessons.com. You will love this CD! It's not a profit-driven
project. In fact, it's Tom's Doctoral dissertation on "Practical
Applications of Technology for the Orchestral
Trombonist". The selling of this CD is being done only to
allow Tom to do 2 more such projects this summer. Expect in the
near future interactive
CD-ROM's and DVD's covering "A Routine for Weekend Warriors"
and "All about Equipment".
***WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO RUN THE
CD:
The CD will run on either a Windows
or Mac OS. Windows 98 or later and MAC OS 8 or later is highly
recommended. The audio files are in ".wav" format and
the videos are ".mov". Any browser with plug-ins capable
of running these file types will work. Quicktime and Windows
MediaPlayer 7 both work quite nicely. If you have problems, we'll
help you get set up!
